About this Role
Blue Building Services is seeking a skilled and experienced Mason to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in masonry work for various construction and renovation projects. The Mason will ensure that all masonry work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Bricklaying: Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other types of building materials in mortar to construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.
Stone Masonry: Cut and shape stone using hand and power tools to build or repair walls, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures.
Reading Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and materials needed.
Mixing Mortar: Prepare and mix mortar or grout and spread it using trowels to bind building materials.
Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Alignment and Leveling: Ensure structures are level, plumb, and in alignment using levels, plumb bobs, and measuring tools.
Repair Work: Remove damaged bricks, stones, or mortar, and replace them with new materials as needed.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Requirements
Eexperience:Â Minimum 1 years of experience as a Mason or in a similar role.
Education:Â High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in masonry is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and trowels.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and precision.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Knowledge of different types of bricks, stones, mortar, and building materials.
Physical Requirements:Â Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform physical tasks associated with the role.
Licenses/Certifications:Â Valid driver's license; Masonry certification is a plus.
Tools:Â Familiarity with masonry tools and equipment.
